Right, now ******* has so many yards i want to start making it a bit more functional and informative for those using it to search for livery.

If you have been at, or know well, any yards in your area please look to see if they are on the site and leave a comment on their services.

There are many large centres and yards on there so even if you have just entered shows, used it as a riding school, hired the facilities or worked there please take a look and add your commments.

Over 400 yards on there now so must be some you know of in your area. I know in the last ten years i have liveried at and taught at at least 20 yards in our area so if you could look up your area that would be fab ;)

Plus if you still haven't added your yard please do so....

Thanks peeps!

What a great idea, I was looking for something like this last year and failed miserably to find something, so many yards are tucked away in the middle of nowhere and word of mouth seems to be the only way to find many of them. Will let my YO know about it :)

Advertising or not, personally I think not, it is an excellent idea and long overdue.

I have just been on and had a nosey and if I had been looking for a yard then this kind of thing would have been an invaluable starting point.:)

Hello people :)

H&H have been very kind in letting me put posts for ******* as i make no money from it and noone is charged to either advertise their yard or to search so i make literally zilch from it (and am worse off for it) so in effect it is not advertising, i am merely offering a (seemingly) useful and long overdue services to fellow nag owners across the UK as peeved as i am with trying to find livery and dredging equine directories from the 90's and 00's where many yards dont even exist anymore!!

Those who have seen my posts before (and this is about the fourth since February so i'm not taking the michael and blitzing the forums :p) have given me a fantastic reponse from all the forum users on HHO and i am so pleased to type ******* into the forum search box and see how many of you are recommending people use it :D

Now to improve the service for searchers it would be great to get some feedback on the yards that are listed- but a lot of people don't know there is this facility so am just raising awareness.

Hope thats okay :o

Anyway seeing as i paid for an advert in H&H for the livery feature today i am sure they wont mind

What a brill idea, good on you for setting up such a helpful website. But i shall refrain from leaving feedback on a certain yard as "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all!!" :D Great website, but we need more yards for Northern Ireland :p

Yes, well all of the comments are vetted before being posted on the site so there won't be any libelous claims against me :o

If any yard has bad feedback i will pass it directly to the YO and discuss what they want to do re it being put on the site but i hope that that situation doesn't arise.

As long as comments are fair then i am more than happy to post them! :)

Yes, slow uptake from NI and a couple of other areas but have been encouraging people to share links from the ******* FB site with other yards, riding clubs, breed societies, contacts etc so hopefully word will spread over time. Its only been up and running 10 weeks so uptake in general is better than i could have ever imagined

I have bad feedback that I would like to post against a yard.

But if you censor feedback by passing to YO's then it's not really an honest appraisal of that yard? So how is the list useful?

Are YO's allowed to counter any feedback if it is negative?
This could possibly have a knock-on effect - litigation......which is quite expensive for site hosters, internet site owners & users

Be carefull, maybe just let folk give a 1 to 5* grade appraisal & leave it at that?

Can you just clarify how much of my information will be made public on the site please? I don't want my email address made public! Thank you :)

Email addresses are not displayed when comments are left but a genuine name- which is easy to check  -must be provided with the comments which is shown on the site- i will not allow anonymous comments and these are not approved for positive or negative comments.

As an example this morning i had a negative and anonymous comment about a yard listed. I have emailed the comment leaver to advise that anonymous comments are not accepted, and sent the feedback (omitting the email address of the poster) to the yard owner so they know they have been left bad feedback but that as it is anonymous so it will not be shown on the listing.

This is the first negative feedback i have had from all the feedback that has ever been left and i am sure it wont be the last but as this is people involved (as opposed to rating a hoover or a dishwasher) i have to be very careful litigation wise. It does state on the site that comments are not the opinion of the site owners... well, me .

If comments are negative i am happy to show them but not if they are nasty or libellous (which the one this morning was :() then that gets me in a lot of hot water  If any do come through which i think are a unfit for publication, or libellous i will email the comment leaver to see if they can either re-word it or just leave a rating and omit their comment.

I was dubious about the comments facility initially but it has been welcomed by most users. I am hoping the yard owners encourage past and present liveries to leave positive feedback- rather than it being used by peeved off people to slate others - but any feedback will be considered for publication.

No personal details of any users are shown or accessible on the site unless they put it in their own listing ;)

Well, don't give up on me just yet!! Only 9 weeks in and 420 yards listed now (20 of those in last 24hrs) so is picking up quicker each day. If anyone on here finds they dont have any yards in their area then please do share my ******* page link on FB with any horsey groups and societies you are members with and help me spread awareness! :) :) :)

All feedback will be considered and published as long as it is not anonymous. The only things not published will be libellous statements as above for legal reasons but this will be discussed with the comment leaver and a variation of the comment and their original given rating posted.

I.E I will happily put a 1 star rating left by a past livery who says level of care is low, lack of knowledge, poor quality grazing, horses in poor state etc but cannot publish accusations of people beating horses- imagine if it were your yard and someone said that about you!

I think I may be guilty of sending that feedback to you...

Had a terrible experience of a yard in which the YO beat me up [not the horse] after she was confronted about the poor care my horses were receiving...police involved, due to my quite severe facial injuries [broken nose, 2 black eyes, cracked jaw, whiplash injuries], hence not really wanting to put my name to it...

Said yard has been haemmorhaging clients since it opened, yard owner can't cope with her own workload, yard is now infected with ringworm as YO would not be advised when it arrived on the yard with a new horse

So you tell me that this is a happy, happy world in which yards are only run by wonderful people and deserve only positive feedback...

No, not at all but there are better ways or wording things :p I have been at some terrible yards but they have all had their good points too so i wouldn't totally slate somewhere for the sake of it.

If you were to resend feedback, unanonymously giving one star as you did but worded in a slightly less slanderous () way then i will happily put it on :)

******* I think it is a brilliant idea and well done you.

You really can't please some people hey?? If you gave them the moon, they would demand it in a different colour.

It would be nice to have a trip advisor trip comment thing, but realistically this is never going to happen for a FREE service where you can't afford to take legislative knocks, so people just be grateful that you have got a starting point. If you can't be bothered to visit a potential livery yard yourself a few times (suggest first thing in the morning to see when turned out, mid afternoon and a random quite morning) before entrusting your horses welfare, well you should just go and boil yourself??

Can you put an "all" filter in please, sorry i am one of those impatient ones that likes this feature rather than have to select each type of livery individually

other than that - and its only me being a stroppy old woman it looks a good site

well done

If you just don't select a livery type then it searches them all (as far as I can tell).

I am not looking to move yard, but I think the idea is an excellent one. But nothing in Cumbria. I will tell my YO about it and would be very happy to give our yard an excellent reference.

Yes, that is correct! For some reason though it just says 'Livery' so when i pass them my next list of niggles it will be changed to say 'All types' :) If you just put in your postcode/ town and click 'search' it gives you all options.

The list is ever increasing of little oddities and snags i am picking up the more the site is used  so once i have enough funds i will get all the small things that annoy me changed!

And thank you for the recognition that is is free after all and funded from my own pocket so although there may be hang ups with the site as you say it is not always possible to please everyone and i'm doing the best i can! :p
