Have you ever had an asinine reaction to something horse related?

Recently found out that my local drag hunt has fences 600-900mm tall. My asinine reaction was to decide that that is tiny and that they were only suitable for my Highland Pony. The fact he looks like a hippo, is currently retired and 19 years old was irrelevant there for a moment. Once the adult part of me had time to reason with me, I decided that it was a bit disappointing but that shouldn't put me off my plans to take my next horse out hunting. Next horse will be another TB because my current TB is retired due to a clicking knee.

So what have you cracked the sads about or what have you had a reaction to that you later realised was not in keeping with the situation?

I don't understand the question (thicko :p) - I'd have to work myself up to jump 90cm jumps on a hunt on Fergs

I enjoyed the mm heights, as I read them as cm and had a heart attack!

I never have them. I have a mad little sister who makes me jump scary hunt jumps even if I don't want to!

This is a still from a video said mad sister took from the back of her TB ex-racer! It's about 2'6 and I was terrified!!

I, on the other hand, Lolo, have a death wish  :o

and I reckon the "i'll just grab my camera and hop over this" counts as an asinine reaction to seeing something like this on a hack, btw ;)

There's an XC course that has those as warm up fences that the branch of PC I was in used. I have never known pain like it when my pony smeared me across one and my shirtsleeves tore open. The little git! I love your pony collection, they're all hairy and adorable!

Urg, that does not sound fun  They're currently all hairy and muddy  But for heavy, hairy beasts, they like their jumping

I had to look that word up to respond! Never encountered it before!:o

As for the reaction, not since I was a kid and was way too brave for my own good anyway.

I haven't got a clue what this is about, but hazarding a guess!!! I had an 11yr break from horses completely, then bought my latest after going from a 13.3hh to a 16.3hh (no riding in between other than two small hacks on friends horses!!). After two weeks of having my latest horse my mother (very irresponsible and un-motherly I may add ;) ) got me doing some cross poles in the school, then whacked the jump up to 3ft 3 telling me to QUOTE "Just get over it woman". I screamed and swore like a banshee but did it 3 times over. Never again.... :D

Sorry - to clarify - I went from a 13.3hh 11yrs prior, then having break, then buying 16.3hh!!!

Explaining is not something that I'm great at, but will try again. Have you ever reacted to a horse related situation and then afterwards thought that your reaction perhaps a bit over the top or perhaps even just more than a bit silly. It's a silly question I know. Was holding out hope that I am not the only person who does this.

I think you are brave for giving it a go.

Hello Kippen.... I have these kinds of moments on an almost daily basis. You are not alone! :D
