I can (GERALD HARPER) ....... oh dear!
There are some good names on here, but I wouldn't borrow one, (I don't think!)
The member Rambo may have inspired my stallion named Rambo! I thought it made quite a cool name, if I got another shetland it would be called Amigo. Rambo was going to be called 'Tucker' he's a proper racing strips Tucker attiude but isn't not the nicest name.
Jesse, all my own thinking
His registered name is 'Lucky Lane Jester' I didn't want it to be Jester as I knew a [****] of a horse called Jester.
I believe I may of been inspired with the name 'Forrest' from a member on here, whos very moving story I remember reading in the local rider, a chesnut which was PTS quite adly. I can't remember which member.
I have only had the pleasure of naming a horse once - and that it my yearling! I had a long list of names to choose from that we had been thinking about before she was born. But on the morning that she was born the first thing that popped into my head when I saw her was Florence!! (Flo for short!) She will be Go With the Flo when we go out to win all the shows!!
My pony came with the name 'Tally Ho' although she's now affectionately called 'Piggles' no prizes for guessing why!
My current boy is called 'Jesper' after Jesper Gronkear (sp?) a Chelsea footballer - my Dad paid for the horse and requested he be named after any player from his favourite club! His show name is 'March in Honour' as I lost my eventer who was called 'Marchtime' and Jesper's daddy is 'Honours Degree'.
Somebody on here called theirs "Asbo" which I find suits one of my horses absolutely perfectly so his nickname has been that all week! Otherwise I like my horses names, if I didnt when I bought them then I changed them anyway! Never nabbed them off anyone as if I change them then I tend to stick to as near-sounding to their original name so as not to confuse the horse
One of mine came to me called "David" once. David for a horse?!! It was changed immediately.
Ditto Tinkerbee, i adore Oshkas name.
Don't think any other horsey on here is called Calli, but could be mistaken. She was called that when we got her.
Never heard of a horse or person called it.
Beanie was called Beanie when I got him, farrier was curious as to why seeing he was german, but then said maybe his owner was called Heinz!!
Bear was orignally spelt Bare which is short for BAymaRE which is what she is, my daughter thought that one up when I couldn't think of a name. The man I bought her off used to refer to her as baby as she was the youngest one he had. But we already had a Babe at that time.
Mine have been alcohol influenced... pony was called Martini after the drink but also as it was the name in a pony book I read as a kid. Martini Rosso as she was a very red chestnut!
When I bred from her, I intended on naming the foal after a friend I lost to meningitis at uni. Had she been a colt she'd have been called Paddy after him but as I got a girly, her full name is Aston Perdita (translates loosely as "the lost one of Aston") and Asti for short. Plus Asti and Martini are alcohol linked.
Not heard of anyone else having Asti as a name.
Search on now for potential foal names - OH likes Tequila Sunrise! I like Witches Brew! Anyone for cocktails???
My wedding present horse from my lovely hubby-to-be {{snigger...bet he regrets THAT purchase}} came without a name. I know I am a sad old git but I always used to tell people that my dream Christmas would be to wake up and find either a horse or Harrison Ford wedged in my stocking. Preferably both. So when the horse-with-no-name arrived, he just HAD to be called Harrison! Still live in hope that the other Harrison might turn up under the Christmas tree.....{{sighs}}
