Have you ever looked round a top riders yard?

Not been to any but i rember when H&H did a feature on Ulrich Molgaurd (sp?) and his yard was well posh and swanky looking and it was all like tiled and pretty, i would love to have a yard like that

I used to work there!

how weird! This was back in the day of Greenalls, my parents worked for Greenalls and I came up with an idea for the pubs which they implemented. As part of my prize was a look round the yard and a ride out. I remember jumping some scary things, and riding with Tom. I thought then how brave he was, his Dad telling him not to slide down a bank, and then doing it anyway

Well....Mark Todd is now based at Headley stud and i have been there. Brfore MT was there though. It is a wonderful yard. We used to hold RC dressage there. That was prior to Gemma (Green I think) was there. She didnt let us use the facilities unfortunately. But I accidentally sneaked in once when the BYRDs team were there doing some training. I just drove in and watched! I had no idea it was happening tbh I was looking for some training myself and decided to drop in and just ask...like you do!!!

It was quite an eye opener! LOL! No-one asked who I was or anything! Have to say there was a lot of name dropping going on and i left after a while because it all felt a bit snobby(made me uncomfortable) but it was interesting to watch the trainers in action. It was the first time I had seen Dan Greenwood teaching and I was very impressed.

I went to try a horse at John Whitakers yard many years ago. It wasn't a horse from his yard but a guy down the road who was 'mates' with him and as the weather was bad we went to Johns to use his indoor arena which was sort of within a large barn. It was a long time ago when Tracy Newman was still his groom. I recall jumping the horse with the guy instructing me whilst my mum and sister buggered off with Tracy i think to see all the horses. It was back in the days of Milton, Grannusch etc. They were both there if I recall, i specifically remember being told about Grannusch having to have his feet built up with putty as they were crap. Hmm, the things you remember eh!

Bet the yard's rather different now! It was very chilled out, relaxed and they were all just very laid back.

Its still the same now :)

Not really a top riders yard but have been round Oldencraig a few times (I drive past it every day!). Gorgeous yard and facilities, shame about the owners!

I am only 10 mins from Oldencraig! I had a lesson there once - it was AMAZING! The difference in the horse compared to what I'm used to was like comparing a Lamborghini to a 15 year old metro! They told me he was worth over £100,000

I will do it again one day (when I've saved up!)

They also gave me a tour of the yard - it was beautiful and run like a military operation!

Many years ago... YES!

I went to my favourite Eventer's yard which was a huge plus as it was also my favourite racehorse trainers yard... got it yet?

I present to you; myself, General Jock and Kristina Gifford (now Cook).

The yard was amazing! The horses were all gorgeous, Tina was so friendly and showed me round the stables, schools, paddocks and then the racing side of things with the gallops and jumps. Josh wasn't there that day and sadly I was a matter of a few weeks too late to see my favourite racehorse of all time Aldaniti :(

She is still my favourite eventer, such a lovely lady.

Tina is the nices eventer around, she will help anyone and always takes intrest in you and what your saying.

One year i was grooming at Burghley and she came with us in our 4x4 round the roads a nd tracks. She asked about our horse (his first time 4* ) anyway on xc day he tied up and was back in his stable, tina came to find me and asked what had happend and was he ok.

I work for an eventer who has been mentioned on here.

The yard is just a normal functioning yard, all the horses are happy and content, but its not different just because its an eventers yard :)
