Yes, lost him 6 years ago this year cant talk about him still without crying, look at photos. Have other horses now, but to be honest have lost the will to ride them as they are not him, I had him 18 years and just had to think what I wanted to do and he knew.

He was a true superstar and totally my horse of a lifetime, typing this is just setting me off.

Yes, my boy means the world to me and I can't ever imagine a life without him. He is my everything. He has the sweetest nature and is definitely my forever horse. My life took a big turn for the better when he came into it 6 years ago.
A friend of mine told me a couple of years ago, how wonderful she thought he was and how envious she was of the relationship I had with him. She'd been around horses for nearly 30 years and never found what I had with my horse. She has since found her forever horse which I think is wonderful. Until she said that to me though, I'd never realised how lucky I was to have found him.:eek:

Oh God yes! Whenever I start talking about my wonderful Sullivan (RIP sweetie) I end up sobbing. And because I can be a glass-half-empty doom-and-gloom merchant and do too much thinking ahead, I've already cried buckets over what the spring and summer will bring for my adored Sunny who has the severest pollen COPD you could ever imagine.

Yes. I lost my Captain, Christmas 2009, the most wonderful, intelligent, forward going, Houdini-like, reliable, funny cob...and I miss him every day. The YM only gave me back his passport last week as she knew I couldn't bear it before. I haven't even opened the pages which show his markings yet.
However, I now have another wonderful intelligent horse, Phoenix the appy x......bit of a change!
I can honestly say at this point that Captain was one of a kind: his elderly previous owner died of heart failure on the exact day Captain was diagnosed with the same thing, and Captain's photo was on the front of the order of service at his funeral. Cap was PTS about 3 weeks later. A horse to keep in your heart.

Yes. My girl who I have been lucky enough to share my life with for nearly 19 years.

I love her so much it hurts and the very thought of losing her is like a kick in the guts, I quite simply cannot imagine my life without her in it :(

She is my horse of a lifetime without a doubt and I cry so much at the thought of losing her. She is nearly 24 now :(

Yes. My 16 year old retired mare makes me cry if I even think about losing her. She broke her shoulder in the field and is now retired but it is touch and go as to whether she will remain sound enough to stay in a small paddock. So far so good (a year on) and most days she is only about one tenth lame and gallops, bucks and rears playing with my gelding. Heart in mouth stuff! But sometimes just being with her can bring tears to my eyes, she is so special. Never known one like her and never will. Absolutely unique.

I totally understand how you feel, my mare suffers quite bad with arthritis in both front knees. I'm fairly sure she has a good few years in her yet (touch wood) but she'll occasionally have a creaky day and that'll set me off. She's so special to my whole family. But I do know come hell or high water I'll look after her til the day comes. She has always tried her best for me, so I promised her that I would do the same for her.

How soppy are we to be sobbing over something that may not happen for years. I try to tell myself to man up and not be so stupid.

Absolutely! :D

My girl is 19yo, although I have only had her a year and know very little about her past. She is my first horse as a complete 'newbie' to this, and feel so priviledged to have her. Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I was to get it so right first time.

She looks after me and I intend to look after her - forever. But yes, I do get tearful at the thought that one day she will be gone. So, I am doing everything I can to keep her as fit, healthy and happy as possible.

Yes - my lovely horse Joe. He is a horse in a million. He has a wonderful sharer who rides him much more than me now as he is enjoying a quieter life, but when I do ride I compare it to the feeling of putting on your most comfortable, favourite pair of jeans that just fit perfectly.

He has been at the vets for the past 7 weeks with a fractured leg but we are starting to believe now he will get better and plan to bring him home. Its just not the same without him and I just can't wait to see his lovely face again every morning - and I think it has shown us both just what a superstar he is and how much we love him :)

Yes, whenever I think about him. I lost my forever horse, Sonny, in July 2009 to laminitis. He was 28 years old and I had had him for 22 years.

To hear his name sets me off so in my household we don't say it. I can't look at his photos without crying and came across an old feed bucket of his the other day in the tack room and I sobbed my heart out.

I have other horses and love them all, but the love I had for Sonny was on a totally different level.

Crying now just writing this, I miss him so much.

Yes my Oliver-cob, the pony I bought as a 'do up and sell on' project 4 years ago! He is truly a pony in a million and my best friend. I have never ridden or handled such a truly genuine, honest and willing to please pony in the 16 years I have been around horses.
