Got off whislt out hacking?? I had no choice but to do this on saturday as Potts my supposed 'oap' simply refused to move!! and the friend i was with was having her own issues, nothing scary no real reason at all but clearly there was a huge horse eating monster in the bush that i couldn't see. once i was off he walked on perfectly the stood for me to get back on via a gate! today we took the same route with two other friends and had no issues at all Bloody horses :D
 
Yup. Riding out, and rode through a bridlepath and then gout swarmed by forty or so horses, my mare was kicking out. So we had to dissmount, lead them through, then jump on her from the farmers gate ;o :P
 
Yep. i hat to do it today 4 times :eek: I have got my Best Friends horse over for the week and we went round my local farm fields and for no reason he would stop spin around go backwards and just stand their snorting lol and as soon as i get off he is fine!! silly boy :D

Horses are always full of surprises!!! xx
 
Only once because of a nappy horse..

It backfired as soon as I'd led him past the nappy place he invented another 'issue' and I was back to square one and he'd won that day..
 
yep :p was on a hack with 2 mates, friends horse started napping (leaping and rearing) so the rider beat him up the road (she galloped him back to the yard with the whip glued to his ass :eek: ) then my horse started napping and bucking (he was only 4 and hadnt hacked much) so me and my other friend had to get off and walk back ... needless to say we didnt hack with said person again :rolleyes:
 
Yep before I had a mobile phone I was late back from a hack and stopped at a Public phone box and rang the yard so they wouldnt worry and my OH.

Good old Gulliver you could stand in a call box door held open with your foot and he didnt bat an eyelid. Aah those were the days!
 
Not if I can help it. Much more safer on the horse than off!


Edited....get off when we stop at the pub though! :P
 
Yes lots of times.

- To do awkward gates
- To get a stone out of my pony's foot
- On a really long hack to give him a rest
- When we meet something really scary! Fortunately I can usually get him by most things whilst I'm on him, but if he is generally scared I would rather get off and reassure him than get angry with him and make him even more scared.

APart from that I can't think of any time I got off apart from once where I got lost on a hack had no idea where to go and was unsure of the ground it looked like there was a huge hole! So i got off until I worked out where i was
 
Yes loads of times for gates etc, though I have got off once because I thought I was going to fall off with laughter :). On the RS I worked at I used to take the hacks out and we had a few livery's who had had problems with a young man flashing :eek:
I had a group of teenagers and were heading back when a man jumped out the bushes completely starkers and then ran off I found this highly amusing :D I could not have sat on the horse any longer luckily he was the rs school master I was out on and was a complete star while I had my laughing fit :D Though it was not very professional, one of the teenagers did say afterwards to YM that me laughing eased her off as she was initially scared
