Helloo ..

Im just wondering of any of you have taken your horses swimming or to the beach this year? Or if your going to? I want to take my mare to the beach and would love to go swimming with her but its going to be freezing! and im not one for getting cold lol.

Have any of you been swimming etc and was it cold? Ive never done it before so a bit worried really lol.

xx

We live 10mins from the beach so we have been a couple of times this year. Horse did not like it much though!! :)

In the summer we tend to go to the equestrian park about 30mins away, it has a big lake and he much prefers swimming in that (He hates waves!) I think I will wait until summer though its far too cold at the moment!

My mare is recuperating after an injury and has just come back into work. I was thinking about taking her swimming (to a pool, not a beach), but as she lives out, I am worried that this may take too much grease out of her coat and she'll be cold!

Can anyone advise? (Sorry to hijack your post GG)

Thats alright no worries. Gypsy is kept out aswell, but as we would take a lorry its just a case of making sure that she is dry properly, before being rugged to be turned out. But I could hire a stable out that night if I have to. But my friends horse suffers from laminitos (cant spell properly) and hes sound now, but hes not ridden. We was considering going to the beach with him aswell as he said that apantly swimming is really good for joints etc. So it could improve him. I havnt looked in to it all though.

I just wrote a thing on here to see other peoples experiences too xx
