Hello :) thought i'd post in comp to..

Just curious as if your horses have benifitted from being schooled by a 'pro'/your instructor for a couple weeks? If so did you notice a difference? How long did they stay with them? What prices did you pay? Would my horse benifit from 2 weeks away? And any other infomation is helpful..

I'm looking for somebody with a good amount of eventing/re schooling TB's to event experience and only really considering one person at the moment. Had him since march and he's been out in the paddock fattening up and chilling out hacking since then with me, and am starting to lunge him long and low and was thinking of carrying on lunging him and lightly schooling him long and low then sending him to a pro for 2 weeks to learn more about schooling who has experience with ex racers, due to him being my first, as he has lots of potential and am alittle frightened of not doing it right at the start I suppose. Then after the 2 weeks carrying on having lessons with the same person.

Currently have one lady in mind whose about 35minutes down the road from me whose charging £200 a week,(reasonable?never sent to a pro before!), but if anybody could recommend anyone whose in the Wilts/Hants area iswell that would be great!

Looking forward to reading about everyones experiences
Thanks!

My owner is sending my 5 yr old awayto my trainer for a week whilst we are at Burghley. Obvs this hasnt happened yet, so I cant say if there is a dramatic improvement, but I would say that after 2 weeks with a pro you should definatley see an improvement.

We will be paying £130. This is with a VERY good pro (but not a big "name") including full livery for the week and daily exercise. This particular person comes very highly recommended and she is the most fantastic trainer esp with young and TB horses. She is in East Anglia though so would probably be too far for you, but IMHO well worth it (PM me if you want more details!).

Hi,
Last year when I went on holiday for 2 weeks my horse went to my trainers. Definately worth it! Came back to a fit horse who was going brillantly and knocked 10 points of my best dressage test next event out. He now goes every holiday even a few weeks makes a difference. Would def recommend but I personally would only send my horse to someone who knew him and me.

If I went on holiday I would send mine to Peter Murphy. I had a short break a few weeks ago but it just so happened that Peter was also away that week so he didn't end up going. I would only send mine to someone I had met and had a lesson with though, otherwise you don't really know the way they are. I would have no quarms at all about sending either of mine to the place I originally bought my youngest from but sadly they are too far away which is a shame. One of mine is very difficult though and I have on many occasion thought about sending him there on comp livery to try to get him going... I suppose I just keep thinking I will keep plodding on with him taking one step forward and 250 back lol.

Yes I have and I ended up staying! Horse was turned around by it. Am in Cheshire though, so no good for a recomendation for you.

Yes I do it a couple of times a year but as others have said only with trainers I know, whose style I like and who know me and the horse. For a two week period I would also expect to visit a couple of times a week and watch schooling sessions.

My trainer in Shrops charged 130 a week and she was as qualified and successful a dressage trainer as they get!
