Realy chuffed....I jumped my boy and he was good!?!
Haven't jumped him for a year as I hate jumping and he turns into a nutter when he sees a pole.
He had to have the entire Autumn/ winter off due to a nasty cut that was a devil to heal, then he got caught in the fence!! Spent the entire Summer working on his flat work, getting him balanced and listening to me thinking I will never jump again as he scares me. Then last week my instructor put a few poles out just to see what he does..well this time last year he would see canter poles and gallop through the lot with his head as high as he could get it...but no he was soft and relaxed and made no change to his rythum...woohoo!!!! So today I was forced onto a body protector and away we went...did a few trot pole's and he was spot on. Moved onto canter pole's..first was a bit crap as he usualy drifts right, so I stuck my right leg on when we got to the poles expecting to have to keep him straight, but he had no plans to drift and was going straight till my leg said over and so he did as asked, but by pole three we were straight again and he took my over riding in his stride, where as last year he would have had a fit.
So we put up a wee cross pole(and I am realy talking wee here) with a canter pole infront and he was a wee darling. Rode in a very light seat and forced myself not to interfere with him and he calmly cantered up to the jump and poped over and as sweat as you like, he came round again, not a tizzy fit in sight and he looked at me as if I were mad when I shed a little tear and kissed him all over his big brown neck.
