Im having a bit of a confidence crisis with my riding. . .

I have been having lessons and flint is going really well, he is working more over his back and using his back end more. But i feel i have become unable to school him without someone there to help me out if i get stuck.

I have gradually begun to avoid schooling him because of my bad habibits, and the fact that i believe i will ruin him as i have now seen how well he can go with someone else, i just think im going to screw him up.

He has had this week of due to my exams but i am now not really looking forward to getting back on him, because i just work myself up with the thought i will wreck him.

Im going on a weeks work experience to my instructors yard and he is coming with me possibly. . . . but im just not sure what to do next. . . .

On a positive note we went xc the other day and he was a super lil dude. . . just all goes to pot when it comes to flatwork lol. . .

ho hummm

Sorry for my pointless ramblings. . . just feel a bit lost. . . just after some ideas really on where to go next. . .

thanks

It happens to loads of people, but the whole point of having a lesson is to take a small part of it and practice. Ok so the day after a lesson, go and practice what you did the day before on the lesson - ok you wont get it perfect but you will learn how or even how not to do something, and you wont remember the whole lesson but practising will let you know how different things feel to when you are corrected. I also like to use my shadow when Ime having a lesson, so when instructor says relax the knee, chest open etc, this time of the year the old shadow can work wonders. Also what is the point of your poor teacher, teaching you the same thing week in, week out. We have a girl on our yard, she has been having the same lesson for the last year - why because she will only ride with the insturctor in situ. I have even talked to myself the same way the instructor does, "not going forward, where is your contact" relax the leg, etc. Even if you only do walk to halt transitions without your insturctor present you have at least started somewhere. Good luck

I think part of my problem is that when i ride at the moment it hurts due to a bad back. . . but im of on monday to get it looked at. . .

I have been making really good progress recently i think. . . .but i just lack a bit of confidence in my riding and as my instructor says "stop being so mamby pamby".

I think when he comes back into work next week im going to do some ground work with him to start with and then get on and crack on. . . just having a little blip i think. . . Need to be a bit mroe determined i have just decided
