Having a rant about clipping

I clip my pony and she does begger all work - all that hair when she's moulting is too much for my lungs to handle! She does have a snuggly rug tho. That poor pony must be freezing at night :(

Oh god poor thing, I would put a rug on it and then give the owner a word about keeping it on it!!, alterantively if you dont want a fuss, just chuck a rug on it thats an old one of yours (or buy an old one in its size of ebay etc) and claim its from a pony you used to own before and thought that the pony could have it seeing as you have no need for it anymore, althought you shoudlnt be pussy footing around them silly people! In my experience, people who dont bother turning lookign after their horses are always okay with a freebie!

Yes pony is now sporting a beautiful Katie Price pink and purple rug.. poor little sod

(The YO has had a word with the owner and things seem to be a lot better, apparently she didn't know that it would be so cold for it. She asked me when I clipped mine why I am now putting a bigger rug on, I think it was defo a lack of knowledge for this owner)

Sorry for the delay haven't had 5 mins to get on lately..

:) Bump = Bring Up My Post.

Good old wiki says : To bump a thread on an Internet forum is to post a reply to it purely in order to raise the thread's profile. This will typically return it to the top of the list of active threads. It has been suggested that "bump" is an acronym of "bring up my post",[1] however this is almost certainly a backronym and the usage is entirely consistent with the verb "bump" which means "to knock to a new position".[2]

Pink and purple is better than blue with cold though I guess ;)

It didn’t take long to get a rug on the little pony, the owner started by bringing it in first (at least she was able to snuggle in her straw bed during the night) and then a few days after she had the Katie Price look.. So good ish result shame about the choice of rug but at least pony is warmer now...

I have purposely gone out of my way and tried to make friends with the owner so that I can offer my help to her, if she wanted it at least I am trying.

I don't want to have ago as I am sure there are lots of people that buy ponies for their children, but if you don't know what you’re doing just go and book some lessons and leave the caring and stable management to the pro's until you know what you’re doing or get them in to ballet or football.

In this case it doesn't matter what the rug looks like, thank goodness they've seen sense! It really beggars belief how ignorant and stupid some people who buy horses are. Before reading HHO regularly I had no idea how rife this sort of idiocy was.

Good idea becoming friendly with the owners. Hopefully they'll listen to sensible advice in future. Perhaps you could advise the mother to buy the daughter a Pony Club manual or some basic horsemanship books for xmas - that they can both read.

The YO doesn't come to the yard very often, only once a week if we are lucky now it is December I doubt they will come down at all.

The YO sends you a rant via email

Doesn't really answer the question.

But at least the pony is now rugged.

He's been on my mind since you first posted.

For goodness sake don't mention BALLET!!!
