I'm considering havingthe vet out to look at Major to see if there is a reason for his awful behavouir.

I was wondering how exactly would i go about this? Just ring up and say my horse is naughty can you come and have a look?

What might they do? (ulcers?)

Is it worth it or is there a better way to go?

Where would i stand with insurance if we un covered something (he's insured with KBIS)

Hey.
I would first try to eliminate any physical problems. Dentist, back man, Tack, look at diet, exercise. So yes may be vet.
Then if to no avail look at sending him away to school.
What is he doing exactly ?

All been checked, i don't want to send him away. Just doesn't seem 100%, and i'm concerned there is something underlying. General tense, nappy and un-happy.

Okay, well I rang my vet and told him that my horse's behaviour had changed in the last week or so and he immediately referred me to the other vets for a scoping. He said it's quite usual for horses with ulcers to have behavioural problems.

And yes, he did have ulcers - Grade 3. The only sign is that he's touchy to brush in the girth region and to girth up but what made me decide to ask was that he suddenly was laying his ears back and lunging at me when I went near with the saddle.

Definitely ring the vet and discuss.

Also Merial the pharmaceutical company are doing free scoping sessions at some of the vets, so it may be worth asking. Although my vets seemed to have bumped up the medication to cover this!
