How did I accumulate sooooooo much stuff ? A lot of it new too. have spent the afternoon cleaning and de-hairing, bits thru the dishwasher, and saddles polished, and tomorrow we've got to photograph it all if it's sunny :rolleyes:, and then I've got to make some good listings :eek:

Any tips most welcome.
 
i make my listings clear and informative.

I make the type size 14, central align it and use a new line for each new bit of information (cant stand listings that just rattle it off in one long sentence)

Be realistic about your postage.

Take a good clear photo, in a well lit area on a nice blank or clutter free background.

I know it's a free listing w/end, just never got my arse in gear :eek: Typical, eh...

Thanks so much for the advice, I'm likely to put too much info on, which would be quite funny for a pair of fulmer keepers thinking about it.
 
I know the feeling, having a clear out of stuff, not too many horse things though!

Re listings: clear photos in a good light, put it in the right category (surprising how many don't), clear title.

In the description give size, condition, any marks, what it's suitable for.. erm can't think of anything else really!
 
Think about when your auctions will end. Evenings obviously better as people are in from work. I try to avoid Fri and Sat evenings as more people tend to go out on those nights. Good luck!

Pmsl - hubs has just emptied the dishwasher and is holding up the bits, as in :confused:

I think I need one... Had my horse 6 months and I have about 14 rugs, 4 bridles, 10 numnahs/ saddle cloths, a collection of headcollars, boots and so on :eek: He's wear hardly any of them and he has more clothes then me :( Spolit horse! Hehe!

I've sold a few things on Ebay. Good descriptions - make sure you get your auction facts in, i.e ship to the UK only, no returns etc... That will help if issues do arise. Good, clear images sell items. Also, if you do have items of value put a starting price on it. You can always lower it during the auction if there isn't interest.

Why dont you list as much as you can tonight - then add the photos tomorrow?
In the past i have done that on free listing weekends, done a really quick brief description, no photo... got it all listed for free.... Then over the next day or 2 i have revised the descriptions to make them better, added photos etc

I should have a horsey clear out... cant see it ever happening though as i always think 'one day i mayyyy need it...'
 
Personally I always state:
1. what it is - brand, size, colour etc
2. why i am selling it
3. no returns
4. payment by Paypal only
5. that i always get proof of posting
6. Measurements wherever possible - ie if a top i would put chest size, length of arm and back. Put both cm and inches!


I agree keep sentences short and size 14. Would not centre text - personally don't like that!

I only put on picture on (cheaper) and then state that i can email more photos if required.

I use colour print as I think it makes it stand off the page better. Check each item thoroughly before listing and give details of the slightest mark so buyers can't complain afterwards. I found it easier not to have too many things listed on the same day, and as soon as an item has a bid on it I pack it up and put a post it note on to remind me what's inside. Double check that the postage calculator is correct, get a price list from the Post Office if necessary - following a recent price rise I lost some money as the ebay calculator didn't cover the cost. Don't start the bidding at 99p unless you're happy that might be all you get for the item, if there's loads of interest then it will bid up to the realistic price, but if only one person wants it, 99p is all you'll get! Have a happy time in the Post Office posting 20 parcels in one day while a queue of old ladies forms behind waiting for their pensions! I recently had a clear out as I'm (sadly) selling up, and made over £400 after fees etc. Good luck

thankyou so much for all your help :)

the camera is coming out today, as the sun has, and so is the sticky tape to get the last of the white hairs off the saddles......

lol - it used to be Ruby's and although i sold her in January i kept thinking 'maybe Chico will use it' and hung onto it. But this weekend i was feeling realistic and admitted that Chico needs high wither ones so it would be best to let someone else get some use from this numnah.
I have nearly sold all of Rubys stuff now - kind of sad to be honest :(
