Ive got a hot bum and tend to make horses go faster when I ride. How do I control it? Does anyone else have this problem. Im not very confident and its not helping my confidence when I ride.

The horses are picking up on your nerves. Try taking deep breaths out and really relax your shoulders. Allow your elbows to hang by your waist and give a little more rein so that your elbows are bent. Horses usually respond by relaxing themselves.

Thanks I'll try that.

Maybe count your breath in and then breath out for a few mins as you warm up, takes your mind of your nerves and helps you relax.

I have always had an electric bum, I was a very confident rider and did x country the lot and never suffered from nerves, I do have a little loss of confidence in my ability now, but as I say have always had an electric bum, and daughter seems to take after me!!!

Lots of instructors have told me it is because I ' ride' them on even when relaxed, singing humpty dumpty seems to help, have not ever stopped it though and I know accept it :( lol

Some times it works to your advantage on a lazy horse.

I have an electric bum too. Its not like im unconfident. I think its just years of riding school.ponies and lazy ponies thats how i ride.

Seriously having to stop now as new pony is very fizzy. Its too do with adrenalin too.. Eg adrenalin goes up when your nervous/excited,horse picks up on it and gets faster. But you cant tell yiur adrenalins gone up
