Daughters horse has had swelling in her fetlock last night she looked 100% better heat all gone and swelling .I left support bandages on for the night as instructed by vet who is due out tommorrow and her knee this morning is twice the size.Vets coming out on emergency call this afternoon.Really worried about her.
My boy is recovering from hock surgery and has made good progress I have to walk him and some trot for hour a day to aid fusion .The big problem is his heels are quite collapsed (tb) so now he has a bruised frog.He is walking ok on roads but is sore in the school which I feel is the bruised frog.I have just spoken to the farrier he wants me to give him 6 mths off to correct heels but I cant because of bone spavin .Plus hes already been off for most of the year for tendon problems and cannon bone bruising .I dont think hes in favour of nb shoes which I thought would be a good option .
I could really do with some positive vibes dont think I can put up with much more.

hey you've come this far don't give up now! Can you speak to your vet re the foot problems and see what he advises? don't know about collapsed heels but do know about hock spavin

is there another farrier you could use?
(((((hugs)))))

farrier is really good best in area. Will speak to vet this afternoon now going to yard will keep you posted what a b****y week month year even lol

try not to stress too much, I know it's easier said than done. At least if he does get turned out then at least he is exercising himself in the field as opposed to being on box rest?

What about a frog support? No idea if it would work but only costs a few quid and might be worth a try, you can get them from Lami trust.

I'm so sorry it has all happened at once, it seems to be the only way with horses. Hope it all resolves soon. Does your farrier often work with your vet? If you can cope with the ego's on your yard at once it may be worth getting them both there at the same time for your horse.

Why does everything always seem to go wrong at once with animals.

Agree with the suggestion about getting the vet and farrier together, and sending loads of positive vibes.

am having a bad week too!!! 3yrold recovering from tie back been given the all clear to break in, to find lumps under his chin(premolar empaction) wasnt an infection no operation needed(phewy) but had 6 weeks off, started backing process, wasnt convinced about mouth, vet out told all caps are loose and needs 18weeks to recover,,,,,, this week he burst out of his (wooden) stable and punctured his flank, emergency vet called on sun nite (900000 quid an hour) as hopping lame, muscle puctured!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone your vibes obviously worked .
Phillie has to have another 7 to 10 days off vet thought it was tendon but when we clipped leg for scan she had severe bruising and trauma. The support bandages had also aggrivated the area and she now has lesions on her leg.Thank goodness its not tendon having been through ligament and tendon with my horse I know how stressful that can be.Shes snoozing after a shot of sedalin at moment ,will go back down to check her again in 30 mins she could hardly stand upright when she had the scan unfortunately she wouldnt stand still .
Vet thinks nb or gel pads are a good idea so ready for that discussion in the morning.
Pink tiger hope all your problems work out sounds like you are having the same kind of year as I did last year.Thank goodness for ins my horse has cost over £6000 in two years .

(hugs)
As you know I'm another having a bad day/week/year ... one horse going into hospital tomorrow for a gamma scan (kissing spines most likely) other one we've decided to retire, or at least turn away for 6 months or so as he is so lame and vets can't offer any solutions. And he's just developed an abscess in his foot. So been on box rest which does his arthritis no good.

Heel wedges in shoes seemed to help Marco a lot when first diagnosed with spavin, hope you can work something out with your farrier.

Hi Butterbean I was going to pm you this week.Goodluck for today will be thinking of you let me know how it goes.Once he is round from ga you will feel alot better.
Lets hope 6mths off with good turnout makes a huge difference..
Ollie had natural balance shoes put on today it might take a couple of weeks for the bruising but thats nothing compared to the rest of the year so feeling a bit better about everything today.
