I've inly had him just over 3 months and have only ridden a dozen times maybe.

In this time we've had:-

1) kick to knee in field which nearly required a joint tap.

3) cellulitis as a result of the above.

3) suspected pedal bone fracture which turned out to be (thank god) "just" an abcess which exited cannon bone.

4) now - we don't know but swelling to hock and clicking.

Needless to say 3 different legs so good luck insuring next year. I'm getting embarrassed calling the insurance company.

Argh. I just fancy a nice hack and popping over a jump or two.

Why so we love them so?

Im in same boat had mine just over year within 10 days he cut his hind to bone , then threw a splint now we are dealing with k/s and sacroilliac pain . Dont think my ins company like me either . Just a short hack will do ;)

This is the first time I've ever insured a horse - so someone was watching my back the day I took out the policy I suppose.

(Joint tap = joint flush btw, brain frazzled due to stress of it all.)

I'd like to say I'm glad I'm not the only one in this boat - but I'm sorry you're at my pity party too!

Vet said today to just give him danilon and re-assess in 48 hrs. Tbh I think he's unfit (has lost his topline) and had thrown something being an asshat in the field (new yard). If the silly sod can stay sound a few days I can start in fitness. Assuming of course he doesn't do something else daft.

And winter is coming and they're horrific here. Joy.

Im sure they stand with their mates laughing at us , mocking us for having no money few holidays sleepless nights its all a horse conspiracy . Ive owned some lovely horses but they were all self harmers lol
