Having my horse freeze marked tomorrow

I'm booked it with Farm Key to have my TB done tomorrow, following horse thefts in the area. I'm now having a little stress about it.. all the web sites say it is pretty painless but I'm worrying..

Has anyone had any trouble with their tb's being freeze marked? I wanted it done on his back but am now a bit worried incase that could cause problems in the area where the saddle goes.. I think I'm just over reacting lol.. any advise appreciated..x
 
I had trouble with mine after he was done under the saddle and a bit stayed bare. He kept getting sore on the bare patch after long rides and he wasn't even a particularly sensitive sort. I've always had them done on the shoulder since.
 
i had mine freezemarked by farmkey many many years ago and all types 0f horses were done at the same time. none of them had any adverse reactions and all were done under the saddle....at that time it was the only place they did them.....when my trakhener cross was done the chap didnt even want a headcoller on her and he just did it in the stable and she stood like an angel so i assume that it didnt hurt her.....if you dont want the risk of having it done where the saddle goes, you can always opt for the shoulder, hindquarters or under the mane.... im sure yours will be fine, good luck:D
 
Mine was done on the shoulder two weeks ago. She did need a bucket of feed to keep her head in whilst it was applied.
Was slightly hot and raised in the area for 3 days - rode after then. Now just beginning to scab up. Have had all my horses freeze marked: can't be a pleasurable experience but i would rather that than know i had knowlingly not tried to do all i could to stop them disappearing off the face of the earth.
Would suggest shoulder is best place

Did you use Farmkey?
 
I had my previous horse, a tb, done under the saddle. He didn't flicker honestly dont think he noticed it.

Current horse, cob x, under the saddle again, needed a bucket of feed. He was really sensitive the day after and it became very hot and inflamed. He was uncomfortable for around a week. Couldnt be ridden for a month due to sensitivity, but he was only 3 and turned away anyway.

I would always have it done when you dont mind not being able to ride for awhile just in case.

Used farmkey both times xx
 
I prefer under saddle but had shoulder done Am sure they will advise etc when they come along.They were brilliant when I used them a while ago. I was clueless and stuffed horses face with pony nuts as we went round and round in circles on short leadrope head collar. She stood behind me and just got on with it. Its sore for a few days afterwards but not whilst doing it.
 
Be prepared though and think safety in termsofwhere and how you hold/ tether your horse as ours nearly pulled downpillarhe was tied to......the lady was brilliant and it's just a short while but anticipate that they might spook a bit:)
