So I'm having a friend come to the yard who is also a professional photographer, she's going to do some photos of me an Connie,

Just wondering if any of you guys could give me any inspiration on the kinds of shots we could do (she's also doing the dogs for me if you have any doglet ideas).

I'm planning to wear my competition beige breeches, long boots, white musto innovation show shirt thingy (short sleeves) and a navy gillet - do you think this will be ok?

Was toying with the posh frock on horse and adding in a pair of wellies as a bit of fun, but not sure i've got a dress i'll be able to get on in!

Shameless bump - anyone???

I have a friend who often comes and does some for us and wejust go o'naturel!

I guess its nice to dress up in show clothes but its lovely getting some natural hard working shots, try getting some action shots, so just as horse goes into canter, doing a jump, or galloping on a long stretch of open forest! I often make sure I get lots of horse being silly in field aswell rather than just me riding, gets a bit boring otherwise!

Do you get good sunsets/sunrise? This kind of thing -

Have you got any contrasting/spectacular backgrounds you can utilise?

Bridges, tunnels? (There was a fabulous photo on one of the HHO Godiva pages under a bridge)

Beach, pond, lake? Fields of rape, corn etc?

I'm sure your friend will play around with effects too, photoshopping is your friend!;)

This photo won a competition (and is now on the back cover of a book) this is it before I'd got rid of the fencing and the flappy halter:

ps. Squeaky toys are very good for getting a horse to look alert!

As for dresses, if you want that kind of thing, get yourself down to the local charity shop, they always seem to have bridesmaids/bridal gowns going cheap.

Have fun, sometimes the best photos are the candid shots.:)

i love the one using the dark background, we have lots of barn door ways that we should be able to use for that, thanks so much.

I'm not going to be able to get any jumping shots (Connie is retired from jumping due to injury/illness) I do fancy one of us cantering across a field though.

Just keeping my fingers crossed the weather holds (forecast isnt looking great!)

That sounds great what you plan to wear.

I've been working with a prof. photographer for a fundraising calender for 2012 - on the bridleways. All horses and riders are well turned out in their casual hacking gear. We have been working on some lovely backdrops ie. dramatic cloudy skies with a South Downs as a backdrop too. Reflections by a lake or pond. Unfortunately you have missed the rape seed (so did we). Don't forget poppies as a backdrop, crops of wheat/oat straw blowing in the wind. The large daisies are lovely at the moment. We are hoping to do top hat and tails with the daisies soon. Some lovely muture trees are always lovely too.

Why not have some shoots of you riding with you doggy too. Don't forget to say to the photographer that the horse mustn't be resting a leg!

Good luck and look forward to the photos on here.

... and definitely a sweaky toy

when you say 'au naturel' do you mean without clothes??? I think it would solve the 'what to wear' problem :D
