I'm having to sell my little sec a and im finding it so difficult!!

He is so cheap and lovely to have around but Im not allowed to bring my new horse back home till he is sold.

With 2000 acres and 10acres of grazing (I'm only allowed to have 3 acres ...1 3/4 acres spring and winter and the rest for the rest) I'm not allowed to keep him... stupid non horsey family!! :'(

Sorry just a big moan!

make a case to keep them both

point one should be a budget of how much it all costs

point two should be the benifits of horses having company

point three should be how much it isnt going to affect any of them

point four how much room you have and how much the pony needs

there maybe more but you need to present anything in a calm manner with back up info and it written down. dont let it get emotional and saying but hes cute and lovly wont work as he is a pony and they dont care.

You wouldn't expect to keep one cow by itself, cattle are herd animals, like horses, horses need a friend (mine jumps out if he is by himself). A section A costs hardly anything to keep.

I have heard everything, from daughter-in-law paying rent for her grazing, a nice little fenced bared wire paddock, with the inevitable consequences, to a horse being expected to live in a stable all the time and let out round the yard for an hour a day, all around the machinery!

Keep calm, give well presented arguments, have a secure place to put him when you go out for a ride.

I think there is already more than one horse at home? So even without the little one, new boy won't be on his own. Or am I wrong?

I am sorry you might have to sell your boy but you get no sympathy from me only jealousy and bitterness. Poor you that you are only allowed that many acres on the family land :);)

(please take this with the pinch of salt that is intended, I know you don't want to get rid of this lad and I am sorry you might have to)

Yes billie is right there will be 3 other horses for company... I guess I'm just pure greedy!! Lol

New horse is already hidden on bfs farm for the time being as he also has an arena to break new horse in.

I would love to break little to pony to drive but have been told the is absolutely no way I can have a trap on the farm. I am also too big to ride him.

But what he does do is act as field company and a nice 'safe' play mate for youngsters to be turned out with and as a grazing companion for my very good doer when out on limited grazing.

Miss L Toe - you made me laugh yes definitely!
Bleeding farmers!! Lol

Maybe you could make them go all broody and say 'but you know when we have our own little ones on the way he will be perfect as a little lead rein pony....' haha wouldn't that work? No?!

threaten to leave and mean it, can you imagine being controlled like that in 30years time, when you have had your own little ones as well, do not be walked over and I am serious it will only end in heartbreak.
