Having trouble finding a sharer...

Ive had my wee mare advertised for a sharer for a while now and Ive zero response :( Are there just so many horses for part loan now that folk can take their pick?? Shes a good fun wee thing and other than the odd impatient moment shes very safe! I have said in the ad though that I want someone under 12 stone could this be the issue? x
 
I don't know about the weight limit but are you asking for much in the way of financial contributions or stable jobs? Nobody seems to have any cash these days and people don't want to take on pony chores coming into winter so that might be part of it.

Hang in there though, I'd almost despaired of ever finding anyone to suit my young mare but we now have a wonderful sharer and it's lovely watching them start to work together. Give it time :)
 
How much are you asking? I didn't respond to adverts where people wanted more than £20 a week.. There were a lot of adverts from people who seemed to want someone to pay for their horse for them while they got all the best riding.

I replied to a couple of adverts and then was told they wanted someone under 11stone (I am 11.4). I shouldn't imagine weights much of an issue. 12 stone is quite reasonable :)
 
Im after a small contribution and the chores will be minimal, ie bring in from field when its their day and feed after riding. I get its not the best time of year but shes been advertised for nearly two months now...Ill persevere :) x

Was willing to be flexible on the days and was after £6 a day? Said person would also be welcome to join us on beach trips and outings to shows x
 
Bearing in mind its coming up to winter , what facilities do you have? Do you have a floodlt school where your horse is kept so that the part loaner could ride on weekday evenings if they work during the day? Is your horse an allrounder that you are happy for someone to jump or is she just a hacking horse? Depending on your answer to these questions they may well limit the number of people who might be interested.
 
I have just taken on a part loan. His owner said I was the only person who responded (she took a while to get back to me so maybe she was holding out for someone who sounded better - although obviously sensible to see whether anyone else responded and not just pounce on the first one!). I had contacted four people in total, at the time they were the only ones who seemed suitable. Of those one had changed her mind and was taking all the adverts down by the time I contacted her, one didn't respond at all. One lady phoned me straight back and all seemed promising but without going into detail on here (just in case!) I sensed problems ahead! I then contacted the owner of current horsey and everything is smashing, she is happy for me to get on with things and he is a lovely boy!

I would never expect to part loan someone's horse and not pay, why should someone else fund my hobby? Unless of course there was an element of reschooling the horse or bringing on a youngster in which case it would be less of a loan and more of a professional arrangement (and one which I would not feel myself qualified to take on).

Hang on and someone will bite, it only takes one if they are the right person :).
 
There are a lot of horses up for share at the mo, I just looked for ones for sale on preloved and there were more for share or loan coming up which never happened when I wanted a share!

If she is safe and can do stuff, then yes you will find someone, just advertise everywhere you can :-)

Weight limit is fair enough, she's your horse and you can limit whatever you want really!
 
One of the ones I looked at had a 10 stone weight limit.

I didn't have a huge choice locally, would have had more options had I been buying. I keep being naughty and window shopping on the internet (must stop!).
 
We have an indoor floodlit arena and access to street lit winter hacking so said person would be able to ride when ever they felt like it. Id say she was an all rounder, hacks out a treat, competed in prelim dressage and le trec, did sponsored rides, Ive never jumoed her but shes capable of popping a small course and with more practice im sure she would do more.......she is a forward going wee thing but her brakes still work :) x
 
If it's any consolation, had I come across your horsey locally when I was looking I would have replied, but it sounds like you are nowhere near me (if I am interpreting the "wee" correctly!!).

Thanks :) She a pretty dainty 15hh welsh sec d so she is a "wee" thing well in my books anyway. x
