Hello!

I want to find a hay that has moderate/low sugar levels, doesn't need to be cardboard, as long as it's not stupidly high in sugar. Which is best? Timothy isn't an option where I am from what I can find but I can get meadow hay.

Is there a certain time of year when the hay is cut that'll be better for what I am after?

All advice appreciated.

Thanks!

Hay that is cut after the grass has seeded is not as rich as actively growing grass.

That is certainly true - but the only real way to be sure is a forage analysis. Because much depends on the fertility of the soil, if fertilizer used - and if it was, was it just N, or the whole hog. And the make-up of the grass to start with - a perennial ryegass or Italian, and what else was in it - like white clover and dozens more.
