Hi

My daughter wants a Hay bar or Eezhay for her pony. Any advice anyone? Just a bit worried that piggy pony will woof away her nights food in two hours flat. She currently eats some from floor and some from haylage net. The Eezhay is cheaper, anyone had either? Thanks

Absolutely LOVE my haybar.. Would 100% recommend it - my horse had a slight "upside down" neck but since using the haybar it has almost completely gone after around 2 months.

I find that the hay does get eaten slightly quicker than the nets but nothing huge (think this may depend on your pony). To me the pros totally out way the cons.

Hope this helps

mine have haybars... love them!

They do pull some hay out and probably do eat it a bit faster, but if i didn't have haybars they'd get it on the floor anyway, as I hate hate hate haynets!

Ditto - love my haybar. Mine is positioned at one of the front corners of the stable so Sunny can eat and watch the world go by at the same time. Never any waste on the floor. You do have to fluff the hay out carefully though and haylage needs to be fully cleaned out every day or the uneaten stuff at the very bottom can get worryingly hot!

Thanks all, I'm convinced it's the way forward..... You all mention Haybars, I can get a pink Eezhay locally for £40 at the moment - about half the cost of a pink pony Haybar. Anyone have any experience of Eezhay v Haybar?

I have a home made version, and to slow down greedy guts have fixrd a tie ring to the bottom inside it, and tie a small holed net up from the bottom

Yes I have to agree Eezhay looks flimsy compared to Haybar. I spoke to a chap today who said he had had Haybars for 8 yrs, and still going strong. I didn't know they'd been out that long! He said the worst thing that had happened to one was a foal climbed into it and pulled it off the wall, but the Haybar stayed in one piece! I wonder if it's true?

We have made our own from a stable mat cut down to size, made into a cirlcle then attached to the wall with wooden battons running from top to bottom.

I've just converted to haybars and all I can say is fantastic, horses love them, they can eat and look out the stable at the same time......I too hated filling nets, it's amazing how much time you save not having to do that job.........mine get cleared out every weekend, so far have had no problems....
