My mare is having various things checked as she has started bucking for little apparent reason. So far vet has checked her over and found pain in her loins, we tried Regumate (no change - she is more diva than hormonal), saddle fitter has been in and made adjustments, chiropractor feels pain in loins is from jumping too high, too young. I am now giving her a couple of weeks with the newly fitted saddles to make sure any pain can't be attributed to them. When the vet was in, he was talking about the next step being confirming KS or sacroiliac. As I am trying to cover all my bases, I believe horses eating from a hay net can experience related back pain due to the unnatural head position it requires. Has anyone used one for this purpose with any success?

Do you mean using a hay bar?
If so it's still not a natural position to be feeding from, it's too high and the neck and throat are almost constantly arched.
Try putting 2 boards one on top of the other across one corner on the floor, it creates a floor level area that helps prevent lots of hay mixing with the bedding. The horse then eat at floor level-headed purse will thank you too as hay bars are more expensive than a board.
