why is it that no matter which websites i look on i can never find any and when i do they are an absaloute fortune i knew they were expensive but this is over the top! i n ormally just use hay nets but we had the physio out for my mares back and she said to put hay on the floor rather than in a haynet so she is kind of stretching her back but i would rather have a haybar so that she cant pull all of the hay into her bed as its murder to muck out the next day!! any suggestions??

All it is a sheet of thick plywood with the two corners sawn off so it can sit at an angle. It's held on the wall buy screwing two batons onto the wall. The shett of plywood just slides down between them, snuggly. It can be lifted out but is tight enough not to fall out.

I did the same as Kallibear, well my dad made mine - cost nothing as we had the plywood lying around, my horse loves to scratch her bum on it and it has survived that so far!!!

I love haybars. Switched from haynets for the same reason and hay was just getting dragged through the bed when I fed from the ground.

The pony size is cheaper and quite big itself so that might be an option. Mine have all stood the test of time and that's with a gelding that cribs for Scotland so is always trying to hang off his.

Ebay is a good place to pic up a bargain. I got the "pony" one from ebay, new for £45

I got a haybar when I got my boy and he too seems to think the best hay is at the bottom...so much so that he sticks his head right in and tips most of it out onto the floor!! Most frustrating!

But I think haybars are great, much better for back and teeth I am told. And my lad does seem to hoover up after himself so there's not too much strewn all over his bed!
