Hay crisis!

Is anyone else having a hay crisis? I live in Norfolk and my regular supplier has told me he will run out of hay due to the bad yield last year!! He also said he doesnt know anyone else who has any, and i must admit i rang a few places and they are all running low and not taking on people! Is there a national hay shortage!?

What a nightmare! Luckily we had a good hay crop here! I do remember a few years ago when it was crazy here though

we have had to stop supplyiny about 5 customers and even having to buy in for our farm animals as very short, then it annoys me when people allow horses to walk on it instead of putting in a feeder, we are bedford area.

It probably annoys the people who have hay going to waste as well. However, I've seen a very nasty accident involving a pony using a horse round bale feeder, so just bear in mind that there may be a reason why they are not being used.

Think we got a good hay crop last year (Yorks), and saw lots of signs yesterday next to farms sellling hay, don't know if you could search further afield?

What s the safest field hay feeder, at the moment using a sheep hay rack wth lid but have used cattle and sheep round feeders but must be in good condition

yes!!! been told this week that theres no more hay in our area.

I have 2 and a half bales left, as mine are out 24/7 so i can always supplement them with a bit of feed instead - in case of emergency, or give haylage i suppose.

We have put three tractor tyres out this year which we put hay in. There is much less waste as this stops it being blowing around. They were free, and I think it would be very difficult for a horse to injure itself on one
