Argh... stressed out to the max :D

I've ordered and paid for all my hay for this year, and I usually just ring up the farmer and ask him to deliver a large bale when I need it. I rang him yesterday, and his phone was off, so I left a message. Rang again today and his phone rang, but noone answered. Now, I know this guy and I know he'll just be busy and what have you but I need a large bale of hay now!

I bought a small bale last night, and most of it has gone already and my horse is not keen on it at all.

What do I do?

- Hope the farmer will ring me back today and deliver today?
- Order a bale of haylage from elsewhere? (I can't find a large bale of hay for less than £40, whereas I can get a large bale of haylage for £25)
- Continue buying small bales? (which my horse doesn't really like)

Thanks :)

If I were you I would get the haylage to tide you over, no point buying hay from another source if your horse doesn't like it. :)

Try the farmer again too, I'm sure he won't mind, his phone was probably off yesterday because of the bank holiday. :)

Hmm, yeah. It's just annoying to have to fork out £25 when I've already paid for my hay  Ah well. I rang the farmer again half an hour ago so I'll leave it an hour or two before ringing again :)

Is there a local fed merchant that you could get a bale of horsehage from? Down here they are about £7 , it would tide you over for a few days. I'm a bit in the same boat as the big bale hay that we got last week is really dusty and the nags won't eat it , so i'll have to throw good money after bad and have ordered a big bale haylage , but will need to get a small bale locally to tide me over til he can deliver , that's the problem with farmers in general - they're always busy ( not complaining as my farmer is sweetness itself! )

Thats a good idea actually, I think I'll just buy a bag of horsehage, thanks :)

I agree with the farmers, I love mine to bits, he is fab, but like you said, he's always busy! :D
