.. can i ask what you are all currently paying for small bale hay and hayledge?

Also what bedding you use and how much you pay per bale / bag?

Our hay has gone up now which isnt so much of an isse but the quailty is poor ( dusty and dull looking and smells old ) and my horse isnt keen on it even soaked.

Im going to have to re think my bedding and hay for when she comes in at night again.

Well this year I managed to get my own field cut and baled but ordinarily I have paid £2 off the field or £2.50 delivered for small bales of hay. Shavings are about £6.50 per bale. I am in Derbyshire.

i live in gwynedd and and i have some super hay, cut in may no dust and smells lovely for £2 per bale, when i take trailer to pick up a load he also gives me a fiver back towards my deisel!!!! i use straw at £2.50 a bale.

Currently buying hay at 2.80 delivered & it's really nice stuff. I think the straw is 1.80 a bale, not too sure as I don't use it. I buy bedding, similar to cushion bed, at 4.00 for a large bale.

Ooh what woodchip bedding are you using and where does it come from at that price. Need to find something for one of mine as he cannot have straw and shavings are too expensive. PM if you prefer.

Last winter I paid £7 for a small round bale of Haylage and £7.50 for a bale of shavings. Hope it doesn't go up too much this winter!

I have paid £2.50 a bale for as long as i can remember. The yard I am on has over 120 acres so the farmer makes his own hay. It is the nicest soft hay you could want and it is delivered outside our stable door whenever out exsisting bale is getting low.

I don't buy in Hay as we make our own, but i use Aubiose and thats about £10/bale, although i get a discount when i buy a pallet of it, if you have storage its worth asking what deals you can get (or join together with other people) Most bedding & Haylage people like to get rid of pallets in one go, so will often do a good deal (i've always done this & it usually saves me quite a bit)
