Sorry if I have repeated a thread...but just out of interest, what is everyone paying for small bales of hay since the 'panic buying' started..?

I have just secured a price of £3.25 a bale inc delivery (meadow hay), it is more expensive than last year but would you still say that was quite reasonable?

Advice appreciated!

I think you've got a very good deal there as there was a thread recently from people in Kent who were having difficulty finding small bale hay, and when they did, it was between £4 & £5/bale. Here in East Anglia, the yield is down on average 40% - we have grown our own so we are OK. The local (very old farmer!) who baled it said it was the best hay he's seen and if we wanted to sell it, we could ask £4.50/bale!!!

That is really interesting, I have spoken to a farmer from round our way, he said that because the rain has picked up in the last few weeks many people are managing to get a second cut that they didn't think they would, so there won't actually be a shortage after all......so come the winter we'll probably be fine.

I just wanted to check as it is difficult, as a YO having to put prices up for my liveries, I just want to make sure they are still getting a fair deal :)
