Ok, so which is correct, You feed MORE hay than haylage as the haylage is more nutritional so you need less?? Have heard that haylage holds more water so you feed more?? Afterall haylage nets are generally smaller aren't they?

Does vary according to the time hay/haylage is cut and type of grass used, but I would feed the same VOLUME of haylage as hay (but will obviously weigh more because of the water content), and then cut down the hard feed.

Just wanted to add that you do also have to bear in mind that some haylage can be much more compressed in the bales than hay.

Weight for weight you should feed more haylage than hay as haylage has a higher water content. However as haylage can be of higher nutritional value than hay - i.e. ryegrass haylage is going to be like rocket fuel compared with meadow hay - I tend to go for a high fibre haylage (E & H haylage is brilliant) and then cut right down on hard feed.
