Hay Pellets

We use grass pellets, which I guess are the same. We soak them and mix with an equal volume of chaff. We find that they are pretty good for maintaining the weight of our elderly cob. We don't use them as a complete replacement for hay, more as an alternative to hard feed - although we feed a greater quantity than you would want to feed of coarse mix.
The only disadvantage we have found is that if not mixed with enough chaff they can cause choke.
The main advantage is that they are a high fibre feed and so easier to digest than cereals.
