at a farm auction locally at the weekend someone bought the big bale round bake hay at £48 plus vat per bale. He then transported it quite a long way into Leicestershire. Meanwhile our local hay supplier has run out of small bale hay. He only has haylage left. His hay was £4.50 a bale. I am in the west Midlands, very rural. What is it like near to you? Do you have all your winter supply?
One of my friends is selling small bales of ragwort free meadow hay for £3.50 a bale at the moment.
Don't know what the other local prices are for small bales but that seems a good deal.
Plentiful round here on the North East. Big round bales of haylage for £25 delivered on an as and when needed basis. Not sure on the exact price of hay, but I'm pretty sure its around the same price.
round here its generally about £40-£50 per big round bale, although i get mine on mates rates lol i did hear that the local farm suppliers are charging £6.50 a small bale!!!
£4.50 a bale - extra 50p per bale if delivered, minimum delivery 20 bales.
Just got to get some palettes down in my old stable and then will be getting 20 bales, to start me off and will then order more when I need it - have not wintered my boy before but he is a good doer...I did adlib last year with a different horse, but have got a different field share set-up this year so will be reviewing the situation as it pans out. Had a good look at the hay and it looks really lovely quality.
We've still got grass also and they will stay out. Splitting the 3 acres in two soon-ish. There are only two of them.
Think big bales round here vary from between 27 - 35 quid but the farmer i am buying from this year doesn't do them.
