Hi all,
In view of the fact that my horse has a bit of a hay allergy which last year involved soaking zillions of hay-nets for both of them, in case she stole hay from the other horse, I was wondering if anybody has had any success with replacing all or some of the hay ration with fibre eg Allen and Page's fast fibre, included with sugar free beet pulp as a 'filler'? Please don't suggest haylage as it is too rich and I can't use the quantity, my other horse can eat hay so only need to feed one - my reasoning being that as hay is in short supply the longer I can keep her off it the better. Any ideas/suggestions gratefully received. They both live out, but I do bring the other one in for a few hours so he can hay his hay.

Hi, my horse was vry poorly and wasnt aloud hay for over 6months, also wasnt aloud vry much grass. i really struggled to find a replacement that she would eat. First she had hifi ad-lib sometimes a whole bag a day! Then after a few months decided she didnt like that so she had dried grass ad-lib few wks later didnt like that! finally i tried gold blend and she loved it and much cheaper than hifi! she had that ad-lib until she eventually swaped back onto hay. hifi, gold blend and all them types of chaffs can be used as hay replacers. Good luck finding something that works i really struggled as my mare very fussy!
