Hi all, am needing some recommendations for.hay replacers for my 25yo veteran. She has lost a lot of condition this year which has not been helped by a lack of turnout due to the weather, plus me having a baby 7 weeks ago.

I've revamped her grub so she is now on a stubbs scoop of Alfa A oil.and saracen veteran mix with a mug of linseed, twice a day, but she is leaving a lot of her hay. I need to find a hay replacer. I had her on speedibeet but it seemed to make her loose with the added water, so I am worried about 'fast fibre', but she did eat it.

I plan to do some in hand exercise to build her up and she is going to get more turnout as of tomorrow as a priority.

I feel so bad as I haven't paid as much attention to my old friend of almost 20 years over the last few weeks with being massively pregnant and then having a newborn and now she is thin.

You can make fast fibre without it being sloppy, as long as it has enough to totally soak, I make it very dry and do the same with grassnuts it just takes a bit of practice to get the right consistency, grass nuts would probably be ideal for her especially if she is not getting out much but they may not suit a laminitis prone pony as they are fairly high in nutrients.
