In need of advice.

My old boy (somewhere around 27/8) has suddenly stopped eatting his hay at night. Pulls it out onto the floor then mashes it in his bedding but doesn't eat it. Am making appointment to have his teeth checked later this week, but in the mean time need to feed him something over night. I know lots of people use hay replacers but what quantities do you use? I have large amount of Hi-Fi lite and Fast fibre that i can use but not sure how much to give him. He's about 13.2hh appaloosa cross weighing around 370 kg.

Advice grately received and understood.

Fast fibre is brilliant, highest fibre content I have found anywhere. I would call up A&P and see what they suggest. I give a 34yo 15.3hh half a stubbs scoop twice daily at this time of year, plus half stubbs scoop of grass nuts soaked. He also gets 24/7 good turnout and does very well considering he has pretty much no teeth!

In winter he gets loads of other stuff overnight when he is in including a trug of readygrass/graze on each evening and a regular bucket full of mollychaff. He also gets double quantity of FF in winter and sugarbeet too.

Hope that's some help? I got my diet by writing to an independent equine nutritionist.
