Hay steamer

Hi , has anyone used a hay steamer ? My haylage isnt very consitant so I'm looking at getting a steamer as I can get reasonable hay but I would need to soak it . Any ideas ?

There is a steamer where I am on livery and it is fantastic. Yoou do not get the situation of heavy nets to lug like you do with soaked hay. The horses find the hay yummy.

I'm about to make my own with a wheelie bin & a wall paper stripper. If you do a search on here it will give you some ideas.

We've got a Haygain steamer and it is brill! No more tipping buckets of water over the hay - yippee!

Made my own with large wheelie bin and wallpaper steamer and timer and love it, so do my horses as they get nice warm steamed hay night and day. Would not want to go back to soaking hay in water!!!!

I have one of the happy horse ones and it's just fantastic. i looked at the haygain too and they are good too, but area a lot more expensive. they both do the same thing so i went with the happy horse. i used to soak and having the steamer has made life SOOOOO much easier! particularly in this weather...can't even bear the thought of soaking hay again the the freezing cold...I have a horse with copd too and she's great on the steamed hay, so we're all happy bunnies!
