Hi. For those that use hay steamers can you steam hay to last a couple days in advance or does it need to be done on the day that the hay is going to be used.
I personally wouldnt, I have a house sitting client with a hay steamer, and what I do is about 9pm when I do last check is steam it for next morning, then in the morning steam it for tea time.
It really needs to be fed within 24hrs, as otherwise it dries out. Although the spores (fungi) should be denatured, but are still particulates to irritate the lungs.
