Hi All,

Who supplies your hay in berks, reading/pangbourne/newbury/aldersmarston and surrounding areas etc and how much??

Looking at the big bales that are the equivilant to tweleve/fifteen small bales. Thanks.

Probably not much help to you but it is in very short supply round here and you might have trouble finding any if you've not bought from that supplier before.

As new-to-pony owners last winter, we managed to pick up a little in the spring and got 12 bales of fresh cut in June (as we had no grass by then and hadn't cut ours) but since then no-one will supply us yet or supply at a reasonable price, as they're saving their hay 'for regular customers'. I need just the equivalent of 100 small bales will take it in any shape or size (we have a bailer so can rebale in small) but I am not paying £6-8+ a bale, I'd rather wait as I know I can pick some up in Herfordshire at £2-2.50 when I go visiting and the car takes almost a months supply, am sure we'll have a mild dryish winter and come February/March no-one will need all the stockpiled hay. (well that's my theory anyway)

Otherwise would love to know where there is some at a reasonable price locally.

I think those who know of good, cheap suppliers are keeping quiet about it, which is very annoying. I try asking people/friends where they're getting their hay from this year, and all of a sudden the subject gets changed!
