ad lib, in a non scientific if they look fat they get 1/2 as much as the others, if they look slim they have more than enough. Works OK so far, but if their is a problem we weight it.

Just wondering how many people feed hay ad lib? Or do you weight the hay nets etc?

Adlib. Thumper is a bit of a gulper, and needs a constant supply infront of him.

Ad lib all year round as being a good doer he is normally on restricted grazing most of the year. I can usually find year old hay round me too and that helps as it has lower nutritional value.

I feed as much as needed for a little to be left in the morning! I put roughly half a bale in each night and it's mostly gone by the morning.

Thanks for the replies! A also feed hay adlib, and im perminetly getting remarks about the size of his haynet!! He has a little holed net as he is an eating machine, i fluff the hay up when i put it in his net and i agree the haynet does look quite big, but theres only a little bit left in the morning so i know its the right amount for him.

Mine live out, but 2 of mine dont get grass much (very lami prone) so they get hay all the time. The others on grass get a pleat of hay in the morning each and again at night - I basically give them as much as they choose to eat so depends on weather etc.
