How much are you all paying for hay?
With this weather everywhere has anyone been able to make any and is it going to be very scarce this year?
Just going to collect 10 bales for haynets for shows but it has gone up alot

I have rang everywhere to get some of last years hay...there is none about and no one has cut any either as they all did sileage when we had that dry spell...big worry really. Unfortunately it comes down to paying what is asked when the weather is such.

Its getting a bit worrying. Im down to my last two bales which is unheard of! Last year I gave 100 away (well swopped for my friend topping my fields with his tractor!). Our yield was down last year but I only had one field cut for hay. I might do the others this year if there is any sun! Mine hasnt been cut yet and it seems to be getting later and later every year.
No idea what the quality will be like

Mine are on haylage, here in northern ireland there is no shortage of it. Im getting the bales for £15 each, last year it was £20!

Just a few months back we had to travel over 50 miles to get the haylage.

My lot hate hay, they refuse to eat it!

We pay £2.50 a bale on our yard and £2 per bale of straw though whether or not this will increase again when the horses are back in the stables in the autumn I don't know because last year there was a price increase.

I have been paying between £2 and £2.50 a bale. But now the farmer has run out!!! Im down to 7 bales. My 3 horses all come in at night (too fat for the grass). one has bad sweet itch and i have to bring him in at bad times. I would be really grateful if anyone knows of any hay in the Lambley area in Nottingham if they could message me with a phone number.

Thanks

were paying £4.50 no-ones got any hay dont no how were guna make it through the year the horses feilds are bare so are eating hay in the feilds but there is barely enough too go around

Our usual supplier (who has run out - arghhh) charges £2.50 delivered and stacked in barn. At the mo using another supplier until more can be cut; which is £3.10 delivered and stacked. The £3.10 bales though are much bigger/compacted.

i know what you are saying its getting dire and costing a fortune, it making it impossible to make the yard economic!! and i can only see it getting worse, it really is'nt funny anymore i really want to chuck my toys out of the window!!
