Has anyone used/currently uses one of these bags?
Shires

Haynets are the bain of my life and having to fill them is a pain but my young horse has a hay bucket and a haynet (to keep him entertained!) The problem is that his idea of getting the hay of the net is to kick it and has got himself caught - thank god I was there. I swopped then to small holed nets - like haylage nets but have recently seen these.

I think they are a brilliant idea - what do you guys think???

I used to use one for traveling. They are good but mine are so greedy they make as much mess with one of them so pointless for me!
Be good if you are worried about getting feet stuck tho

I like them, but I cant fit enough hay in to feed my skinny tb (17hh) , probably would do the pony, can fit enough haylage in as it comes in small 'slabs'
Think they're better than haynets in terms of getting caught!

OK, Thanks, well I may use 2 then. He does have his bin which he loves - treats it like the bargain bin at the sales - rummages right to the bottom - very funny!!

I think I'll order some and have a try, I have no objections to using more than 1! He will be a fatty when hes all grown up - hes only 4 now and grows everyday!!

Aaaaw, he sounds lovely. Mine is like that with rummaging!
I put apples in his water tub, he dunks for them right up to his eyes and goes under water! Looks so happy with himself when he finally gets apple!

I personally love them. I have 4 for Chancer. Wanted to feed in a bag as he drags hay everywhere and then won't eat it if feed off the floor, but was worried about a net with a youngster.

I can fit a good 1/3 of a bale in mine, plenty enough for a hungry gypsy cob for the night.

They do wear out - 2 of mine are now 15 months old and looking a bit worse for wear - but Stinker is a chewer of things. Other ones are 6 months old and still look great. If string breaks, you can easily replace with baling twine.

More safe and less strain pulling out hay through holes than a net. Very easy to fill too.

someone at old yard had one for their yearling and she got herself caught up in it. I think they'd be okay for something which doesnt paw but I would be too worried after hearing about that.
