Put mine up today, its really big! My 3 yr old is about 15hh ish at the mo and I don't think he'll be able to reach the bottom! Does anyone else have that trouble? Maybe I should have got him the pony sized one?

How high up the wall have you put it? It only needs to be a little off the floor just so you can get in under to scoop out any old stuff. I haven't used mine for ages as my boy lives out 24/7 but i'm pretty sure he can reach the bottom - he is 15.3hh though..

The A couldn't reach so he got in!!!!!!:)

Agree needs to be about 2 inches off the ground otherwise too high.

Can u put wet hay in them? does it have drainage??

They don't have a grill or catchment container at the bottom, if that's what you mean. The bottom narrows so there's a narrowish gap between the bottom of the Haybar and the stable wall. Enough to let rejected and small bits fall through to the floor. You can put soaked hay in it, but any excess water left after soaking will drain out through the bottom onto your stable floor; same a hanging a wet-hay-filled haynet.

When a friend of mine put up a 'full-size' one for her 15 hand cob, she had a piece of marine ply cut to fit inside the Haybar to form a solid bottom. Her mare could reach fine then, and all she had to do was scoop out the left-over hay each day. Mine's a 'pony size' one - even though the horses using it are all over 16 hands. Mine's plenty big enough and doesn't take up too much room in the corner as my friend's larger one.

Its only 2 inches from the floor, just looks so high and doesn't look like he'll reach the bottom.
That's interesting Spyda, I may sell the large one and get a pony one if he has too much trouble. He's on box rest at the moment so i'll soon find out!
