There may have already been a post done on this but I've been reading about it on FB and think its sounds like a great idea although very expensive!

Anyone got one? I feed ad lib in a haybar and that is fine. Horse doesn't gorge himself on his hay because he knows it won't run out. I do wonder though if something like the Forager would be a good idea for a horse that is on soaked restricted hay in the summer because it would take time to eat. I hate putting haynets up in the summer for my good doer as I don't like using them.
 
It's not out yet, but available to pre order. IMO, at £249 it's way too expensive for a bit of plastic drum with a gridded lid.
 
I have been thinking about how you can make one and surely they can't be that difficult. A blue barrel with a circular piece of plastic that sits on top of the hay. You could attach a round portable bbq metal grill to the bottom side of the plastic circle and then make holes in the plastic and the horse eats the hay through the holes. Wonder how much I could charge for that!
 
Wheelie bin is portable too and has a greater capacity and a small piece of ply board leaning upright at the bottom would keep hay to the front if you cut holes in the bottom .... The brown and green ones look environmentally friendly too. You could even fit a tap if you wanted to soak it. My county council are stopping their brown bin collection and letting people keep them for free in April.
 
I have a wheelie bin with a hole cut in the bottom at the front. It doesnt need ply, the hay stays at the front on its own.

I found this the other day and it looks like it could be made into something similar pretty easily. Take the door off the bottom, and take the lid off. You could then either try and find someone to make a plastic lid with holes in, or you could fill a haynet and tie it into the bin.
