haylage advise please

please could you advise me on the best way to introduce haylage to a horse thats never had it before

I would feed it mixed in with whatever forage it is used too for a week, then gradually increase the amount of haylage and lessen the other forage.

Haylage is very rich compared with hay so I would & have mixed it with hay as I introduce it to a horse. If you don't do this you will probably find that the horse will be very loose & runny as it is so much richer than he's used to. Eventually you'll find that they will pick out the haylage from the hay & eat that first.....mine did.

the reason why shes starting on haylage is that she had a pollen related sinus infection this summer so my vet has told me not to use hay, so if I soaked the hay and added it to the haylage would this work? and how long would you mix the haylage before she can have it fully?

I mixed soaked hay with haulage over a week and a half. She now prefers haylage.
