haylage - how much

Would anyone know how much haylage is recommended to feed 15.2 TB very poor doer.

Still on rather a lot of feed and bare field during the day as no summer turn out just yet.

8-10kg for average 16hh as a rough guide, but would agree with ad-libbing for weight gain....

I agree ad lib for weight gain - but you do need to have a rough idea how much to put in on the first night! A recent post here said the manufacturer reccommended 15Kgs for a 16hh warmblood type. Seems like an absolutely massive amount to me as my lad is on 3.5 Kgs - but he's a good do-er who would get incredibly fat if we fed more.

I would suggest something between 10 and 15Kgs and see what happens. The small bales are about 20Kgs so you'll need to get big bale haylage if you can. Either way this isn't going to be cheap!
