Last year I really found it hard feeding two 16.1 hh horses ad-lib soaked hay once they were only out for half days due to mud - too expensive, to time consuming soaking it, icy soaking area and my hands were awful! So am planning a haylage winter and have just bought a big square bale to try. It wont fit into the storage area at the back of the stable in a bale so will need to open it outside and fill every net I have and bundle them into the storage area. I am waiting a day or two until the heatwave here passes.
Question is: will it be better to put it all in nets or leave some in wedges that I can manhandle into the store - which will keep better? I havent opened a bale yet so dont know how dry it is but advert says should be 65-70% dry matter.
ta!
