I am a one horse owner who is currently sharing with others and its working out ok at the moment. Trouble is, its £45 a bale, and we are going through it very fast. I can also see in the near future bad feeling as those who keep in obviously use more than those out and Im feeding more as my horse needs more condition and Im starting to feel bad at giving him what I want to give him, so I was wondering if I could go it alone.
I know proper haylage doesnt last, so the big big bale would be a no no but Ive seen smaller bales that if a bit dryer would probably be ok. Im thinking more of a waxy hay, if that makes sense. Not sure about big baled hay as I want the calories and dont want to end up having to soak it.
Any ideas, any suppliers in the North West and how much about are the smaller bales?
