we sell our big bale haylage at £22 per bale, we make it specifcally for horses and it's got a lovely smell to it. Don't go for poor quality on the haylage front even if it is cheap as it can cause untold damage to the horses.
Mine have one slab each over night and we bale between 18 to 22 slices per bale. Some slices are thicker than others. So if you usually just haylage in the stables then it should last 5 days, otherwise half that if you are putting haylage in the field as well. Sorry in my previous post I hope you don't think I mean that you would buy bad haylage, best thing to do is speak to various suppliers in your area and ask for samples. If they are genuine they will have no problem in doing this for you, also make sure that they will collect and refund you on any bad bales, everyone will occasionally get a bad bale.
they are about, sorry but have never measured them, approximate sizes, 5ft 6in x 3ft 3in x 3ft 3in = ok that is an approximation. Basically standing on their long side they are as tall as me 5ft 7 and then they come up to about my hip. Weight wise they are under 300kg's but have not weighed them so can only presume.

I pay £25 per bale. Lasts 2 horses about 10 days, mine havent been out regularly for weeks though (but they are today, yay!)

i get mine included with the livery-we get through a bale a day between two horses (mine are only little bales) an we each pay £23 so we get VERY good value
Around here it is about £25 per bale, it should last about 5 or 6 days, but be careful as it can go off if left too long. I personally prefer good quality hay.
I've been phoning round for some quotes today, and an old farmer said he has guaranteed quality stuff and will deliver free £20 a bale if if take 6 at a time! Also got Thoroughbred shavings for £4.75 a bale, delivered free!! This own yard thing is even cheaper than I thought it would be!
i'm on the fylde coast too!
we've used a few farmers locally - who often start off nice - then you get the worse bales! (and silly reasons that they couldnt get to other stack they normally bring off etc) feel free to pm me and i'll let you know who we have found to be good etc!
good luck with the yard !
Have any of you used Probale ?
Its italian ryegrass, how do you find it ?
I paid £32 for mine but it was delivered hundreds of miles .
My husband then bought some locally for £20 a bale on the farm and the ponies prefer it to the Probale stuff , how annoying after me spending a fortune getting properly made horse stuff.
im not sure
i used to buy my own in at my other yard they were £20 per huge bale
we use round ones home produced at this yard- £6 per week for adlib for a horse.
