haylage question

Can someone please tell me if haylage once opened and not used in timescale goes off or just dries out?

I have 1.5 horses and dont know if i can get through a 3ft round bale quick enough...

A lot depends on the weather, when it is warm it goes off quite quickly, it smells bad after a while, but during the cold winter months it lasts a lot longer when opened.

I spread it out to dry, it was fine

I find mine just dries out

It will go mouldy in the middle if warm, so best to pull it out and spread it to dry.
