Does anyone have any words of wisdom for me?
I'm sitting my hazard perception test for my c cat licence and I really can't afford to fail again as my lorry will be ready in two weeks

Have you done lots of practice? There are lots of free websites where you can practice. Only other help I can give is just to click whenever you see anything which may make you have to react, cars coming to junctions, parked cars at side of road, large vehicles, animals, cyclists etc. You probably know this but it catches some people out, you don't actually have to click on the hazard, just click anywhere. good luck.

No helpful hints really, I didnt have a problem with mine, its pretty much like the one in your car test. You can practice a few on the gov website i think :)

Ooh exciting! Take it your not going to have done your training and test within 2 wks though? Its so frustrating my lorry arrived on test day and I was delighted as Id passed but I cant blinking drive ot till insurance have seen my licence which Im still waiting for!! Grr.

Just dont click to many times either!
My OH sat his hazard perception 3 times, he was trying all the free sites to practice on & when he failed the second time i made him go & buy the proper Hazard Perception DVD & it was far better, he past on his 3rd time then.

I was told to click for 'potential hazards', 'developing hazards' and then actual 'HAZARD!' Lol.
So "oh look there's a little boy at the side of the road (click 1 *potential hazard*)... oh no his ball is bouncing towards the road (click 2 *developing hazard*)... Oh christ he's run out in front of me (click 3 *HAZARD!!*) blummin bugger, where are his parents?! Stupid child!"
This was only for my car test though, and about 7 years ago now! x

My plan, assuming I pass tomorrow, is to go for an assessment to see how I cope. Hopefully my dad will be about until January so we'll be able to get out and about.

I've got the DVD. Thankfully I've had to buy a new laptop (totally wrecked my macbook, which might be a good thing) as my OH's keeps crashing halfway through the mock test

That sounds about right. I passed my car theory first time but that was 5 years ago and I swear it's harder now :D

Well, that's my excuse anyways :p

yep - been doing mock tests and just practices. it's getting better - getting an average of 4 now :D

ahh cool :). My only advice regarding driving really is dont book through an agency as my experience has taught me its far better and cheaper to book direct with driving school. Luckily they didnt manage to screw me as I passed first time but I still paid a bit more than I should have and my instructor said I only really needed 3 days training but they booked in courses of 5 days but ho hum I passed so they didnt really sting me! :). much better to do as your doing and go for assessment and let professional decide! The agency told downright lies to me as well as unscrupulous small print and unethical sales tactics (outright lies including; pass protection enabling you to retake your test the same day if you fail - ILLEGAL same as with a car test, it cant be done. Providing a driving instructor with experience at transporting horses - B O L L O C K S etc etc) so im very lucky none of it affected me really :).

Just a point of note Im sure you already know but I have met a few people who didnt; you can no longer drive a lorry on a provisional licence with someone in who only has grandfather rights - they must have taken the relevant test (and Im not sure if they are also required to have held their licence for a certain amount of time too as I didnt look indepth as both my parents are on grandfather rights and lorry arrived after my test anyway!).

Good luck with all of it let us know how you get on :). I was so happy when I got mine as I realised its the last driving test Im ever going to need/want to take :) I now have my car, motorbike and any weight rigid lorry I think Im set!

yeah, i know about my dad not being able to supervise while im still a learner.
I didnt phrase it very well - i meant once i pass he can supervise the first few times i take the lorry out :)

Theres a few driving schools in the area - im going to phone them when i pass (fingers x-ed, eh?)
