I took the pony into the arena this afternoon determined to do some hard, productive, belly flab reducing schooling...and yet somehow we spent 45 mins chasing a giant black stability ball around the arena, kicking it, biting it, wrestling with it and generally chasing it around and giving it a hard time. Every time I picked up the contact to say hey, lets do some work, he would attack the ball with fresh gusto. It was hilarious, and such a hot, gorgeous afternoon that i couldn't bring myself to drag him away from his game. after about 45mins he stopped and promptly fell asleep, so I hopped off and took him home. I have been totally conned out a schooling session! He did work hard at the gallops yesterday though and was so well behaved, so I don't feel too guilty having a day doing what he wanted to do.

Look on the bright side at least it is still flab reducing excercise:D

I bought mine one of those he had great fun with it until he decided that the ideal way to deal with it would be to drop down on it with his shoulder, cue an ominous bang and a totally confused horse looking about going "were did it go"

Sometimes he is a bit special.

Mine too...he tried to canter over the top of it but tripped so it was under his belly, then had a panic at it and stared at it snorting from a distance totally offended, before restarting the tussle again. I can see him bursting it at some point, although he is more keen on chasing it than body slamming it at the moment.

I know ... they are little tinkers ! .... We have all seen them doing beautiful extended trot in the field , or a beautiful collected canter , bouncy and neck arched and tail flowing in the breeze .... then you put a saddle on and they cannot put one foot infront of the other ... or move like Muffin the Mule or Spotty Dog from The Woodentops ( look on You Tube ) !
